Blogging
In this unit the children will be introduced to blogging. They will begin their Learner Log blog and start to record their achievements in and out of school. They will create avatars to represent themselves and they will learn how to comment on other's blogs and respond to comments on theirs. They will then continue to use their Learner Logs throughout their time at school.
Robots
In this unit the children will learn about robots - what they are and how they work. They will be given the opportunity to ask robotics experts questions and they will design their own robots to help Santa Claus at Christmas. They will then create a information booklet about robots to go in the school library.
Logo
In this unit the children will use Logo to create geometric artwork. They will learn how to write the algorithms to create a variety of polygons and then they will use these to create a variety of interesting patterns.
Lego Digital Designer
In this unit the children will look at how architects use computers to help them design buildings and then the children will use the Lego Digital Designer software to design a model of an Anglo-Saxon hut to tie in with their History work.
Animation
In this unit the children will look at methods of animation - they will compare traditional based methods with computer generated animation. They will then use Pivot Stick Figure to create simple but effective animations of their own.
School Promotional Presentation
In this unit the children will be commissioned by the school's Marketing Director to produce a promotional presentation for the school. They will choose which areas of the school to feature in the presentation and will take photographs of those areas. They will write descriptions and record an audio commentary. They will then present their work to a panel including the Marketing Director, Headteacher and one of the Governors.
